July 26 2011 - Team Pedercini - Silverstone preview

Circuit main characteristics:

Team Pedercini riders Mark Aitchison and Roberto Rolfo travel to the UK this week on the back of positive results in Brno. Another strong showing throughout the races was an important achievement for Rolfo and Aitchison and they are now ready to fight with the leading riders in Superbike. Their target for this weekend is to find the consistency over race distance that will allow them to challenge for the result they are clearly capable of.

Roberto Rolfo: ”Silverstone is a pretty unique track; there are fast sections mixed up with slow sections and there are different sections of asphalt that don’t encourage feeling with the bike or help set up. I rode this track in Moto2 last year and it wasn’t a great weekend, so this season we’ll start over and enjoy the drifting out of the corners where the old garages used to be. Some of the corners are really exciting as is the braking; it’s difficult to keep the back wheel on the track! I’m interested to see the recent changes that have been made to the circuit, mainly in the paddock area. It is undoubtedly a world class track, almost 6km in length with alternating corners where sequence and rhythm are all important! I look forward to seeing you all at the track!”.

Mark Aitchison: "Since finishing Brno I have been looking forward to coming back to race in the UK. The new Silverstone layout was great fun to ride last year and I am sure the track will provide close racing once again. In the Czech Republic my team worked hard to dial in a new clutch and this is one area we will have to continue to develop in Friday free practice. I'm also really motivated to continue to work with our bike settings in the search for more race consistency and better tyre wear, as I believe this can help us be a lot more competitive. The Silverstone circuit has some long and fast straights so another area to focus upon will be our bike's speed".
