Cloudy and windy weather today in Misano Adriatico for the second day of Superbike practice and qualifying. After yesterday’s difficult qualifying session, both team Pedercini Superbike riders hoped for a dry track today, in order to improve their lap times and positions. In the morning’s second qualifying session, Roberto Rolfo improved on his best lap time set yesterday (1’37”178), showing good pace in the early stages of qualifying before suffering due to some setting problems. The Italian rider obtained twenty-first position, missing out on Superpole. Team-mate Mark Aitchison (1’37”362) also missed the afternoon’s Superpole, obtaining only twenty third position. Rolfo (1’37”701) and Aitchison (1’37”216) were able to work on their bikes’ settings for the races during the final free practice session in the afternoon, reaching respectively twenty third and fourteenth position. Tomorrow they will both start from the sixth row of the grid for the two 24 lap races.

Roberto Rolfo: “I’m fairly satisfied with today’s sessions even though my position in the classification is not what I had hoped. This morning I improved on yesterday’s performance and found good feeling with my bike. We tried to modify the setting but I preferred to go back to the solutions used yesterday. We’re still a long way from the kind of results I want to be scoring and so this afternoon I worked hard with my team in view of tomorrow’s races. Tomorrow, if the track is dry, we will adopt the same set-up as yesterday. It will be very difficult, starting from the sixth row but I will give it my all and try to make a good result.”

Mark Aitchison:”Our second day in Misano ended much better than our first. During the qualifying we improved the bike from Friday with small modification. My lap time were more consistent, but unfortunately I was held up on my fast laps with the softer tyre and I could not improve my grid position. Nevertheless this afternoon I was finally able to switch and use my preferred bike and immediately I felt more comfortable. My lap times this afternoon were faster than my qualifying even with a slightly different tyre, so I’m happy for this. Tomorrow I will try to fight my way forward during both races and have some fun”.

In the Superstock 1000 FIM Cup all three riders worked very hard with their technicians on the set-up of their machines, to solve the front chattering problems they suffered from yesterday. In morning free practice, on a dry track, Staring (1’40”163) recorded the ninth fastest lap while Bussolotti (1’40”323) was twelfth and team mate Mercado (1’40”693) was right behind him in thirteenth place, showing good promise. Unfortunately before the afternoon’s second qualifying session could get underway, it started to rain and the track became wet and slippery. Mercado and Bussolotti preferred not to go out on track to avoid the risk of a crash while Staring decided to participate in the session to test his bike on the wet track. Third row for Bussolotti and Staring and sixth for Mercado in tomorrow’s 14 laps race.

Superstock 1000 - free practice: 1) Giugliano (Ducati) - 2) Petrucci (Ducati) - 3) Antonelli (Honda) - 4) Baroni (Ducati) .......... 9) Staring (Kawasaki) .......... 12) Bussolotti (Kawasaki) - 13) Mercado (Kawasaki)

Superstock 1000 - qualifying 2: 1) Petrucci (Ducati) - 2) Giugliano (Ducati) - 3) Barrier (BMW) - 4) Antonelli (Honda) .......... 9) Bussolotti (Kawasaki) - 11) Staring (Kawasaki) ........... 21) Mercado (Kawasaki)

Marco Bussolotti: “Ninth position is not what I had hoped for, but considering the problem I had yesterday, I’m pleased with this result. My race pace is pretty good and we’ll work only to improve the grip on the front of the bike during the morning warm-up session. Tomorrow I’ll try my best to obtain good results for me and for my team. They have done a great job during these last two days here in Misano.”

Brian Staring: “This morning my bike was working better compared with yesterday’s qualifying session and I improved on my best lap time. I was waiting for the second qualifying session to be able to test the race tyres and reach a better position on tomorrow’s starting grid. Unfortunately it rained and so it was impossible to carry out our planned work. I decided to participate in the session to test for my bike for the first time on a wet track. Tomorrow I need a quick start if I want to obtain a good result.”

Leandro “Tati” Mercado: “I would say today has gone quite well. This morning I was able to improve on my best lap time and also my pace by more than one second and this is really very important in view of tomorrow’s race. The bike felt better than it did yesterday and I also had a better feeling with the front wheel. Tomorrow I will try to ride aggressively from the sixth row and go for the best result possible."
