Brno SBK - STK races, July 12 2010, A dry track and hot weather conditions at Brno today for the ninth round of the World Superbike championship. Due to their results, achieved during the qualifying sessions and yesterday’s Superpole, Baiocco started from the fifth row and Hayden from the sixth.

July 12 2010 - Brno SBK - STK races
A dry track and hot weather conditions at Brno today for the ninth round of the World Superbike championship. Due to their results, achieved during the qualifying sessions and yesterday’s Superpole, Baiocco started from the fifth row and Hayden from the sixth. In both races, despite slippery track condition, both Pedercini team riders were able to enter the points zone. In race one Hayden reached the fourteenth place while Baiocco ended in fifteenth position. In race two a good race pace allowed Hayden to end in thirteenth position that’s his best result of the season. Baiocco, as for the first race, struggled with a lack of grip on his rear tire. He re-entered the box trying to solve the problem and few minutes later he rejoined the race, ending in fifteenth position.

Roger Lee Hayden :“In race one I got off to a bad start and it was difficult to match the pace of those ahead of me. Starting from the middle of the race I found a good race pace and I ended in fourteenth position. In the second race I found very soon a good rhythm and only near to the end of the race the rear tire performance dropped and I risked falling a couple of times. So I prefer to reduce my rhythm and to finish the race in thirteenth position, collecting some good points”.
Matteo Baiocco :”I’m really disappointed because in both races I cannot find the same feeling with the bike that I had yesterday during the qualifying session. I reached two times the fifteenth position collecting some points for my championship standing, but in the first race, starting from the first few laps, I was forced to reduce my rhythm because the rear tire had no more grip. I suffered the same problem also in race two and I preferred to re-enter the box trying to solve the problem with my mechanics. My team made some modifications to the bike and so I decided to rejoin the race. I hope for a better luck in the next races”.
The day was warm and sunny at Brno today for the Superstock 1000 warm-up and race. Due to the problems they suffered in the qualifying session, Danilo Petrucci started the 12-lap race from the fourth row, while team mate Chris Leeson lined up on the sixth. After a good start Petrucci reached the twelfth position, but unfortunately, during the third laps, another rider lost the bike, taking Petrucci out in the process. Due to his good race pace Leeson was able to enter the points zone, ending with an amazing fourteenth position.

Danilo Petrucci : "A disappointing day. It’s a shame as I certainly think today I had the pace to reach one of the first five positions. My start was pretty good but during the third lap Lussiana tried to overtake our group of three riders and he bumped into my bike. There was nothing I can do. Fortunately I survived the accident uninjured and so now we keep our heads up and press on for the remaining four rounds".
Chris Leeson : "My start was pretty good but I entered the first curve in a group of many riders and I lost some positions because of a lot of impacts. After only few laps I found a good rhythm and I started to recover some positions. The track condition today was very difficult mainly because of the high temperature. I saw some riders crash and so I preferred not to risk and to collect some good points for the championship standing. I’m pretty satisfied with my fourteenth position and I want to thank my crew who has done such a wonderful job this weekend".
