June 28 2010 - Misano: races

Hot weather and a dry track surface today in Misano for the World Superbike championship races. Roger Lee Hayden started from the fifth row of the grid while teammate Matteo Baiocco lined up from the sixth after an encouraging morning warm up. Hayden ended race one in seventeenth position and race two in eighteenth, while Baiocco was nineteenth in both races. Despite the final results of the races it was an helpful weekend for the Pedercini team and both riders and team are more confident for the next races.

Superbike race 1 : 1) Biaggi (Aprilia) - 2) Checa (Ducati) – 3) Corser (BMW) – 4) Fabrizio (Ducati) - 5) Guintoli (Suzuki) – 6) Camier (Aprilia) ....17) Hayden (Kawasaki)…… 19) Baiocco (Kawasaki)

Superbike race 2 : 1) Biaggi (Aprilia – 2) Haslam (Honda) - 3) Fabrizio (Ducati) - 4) Crutchlow (Yamaha) - 5) Checa (Ducati) ….... 18) Hayden (Kawasaki)…… 19) Baiocco (Kawasaki)

Roger Lee Hayden :"In race one we chose a soft tire but after only few laps the bike start to slide a lot because the tire was probably too soft. It was really a difficult race and probably the most disappointed race of this season. The bike was completely different to the one I used during the qualifying and so the only thing I could do was try and finish the race. For race two of course we change the tire and immediately the bike was a lot better and I was able to race more close to the official Kawasaki riders. I think we are improving every race and I’m sure that during the next races we’ll continue to improve the bike’s performances in order to reach some good results."

Matteo Baiocco :”In race one it was difficult for me to find a good race pace and only in the last few laps I was able to catch the riders in front of me. A few curves before the finishing lines I remained without fuel and I ended the race in last position. Race two was different. After a good start I found very soon a good rhythm but ten laps before the end of the race my bike start to slide in every curve because my rear tire had no more grip left at all. We must continue to work on the electronic of my Kawasaki to improve the traction control. Overall I’m happy because during this weekend I found a better feeling with my bike and I’m confident for the next races. The team has worked extremely hard and I’d like to thank them for their help this weekend.”

In Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race due to his yesterday qualifying performance, Danilo Petrucci started from the third row of the grid in twelfth position while South Africans Chris Leeson started from the sixth row in twenty second place. Quite a good start for Petrucci who ended the first laps in twelfth position. Near to the end of the race he was able to reach the tenth place but the race was red flagged during the twelfth lap, due to a crash in the Carro curve and Danilo ended his race in tenth position. Leeson managed to gain a few places at the start and after few laps he climbed up to the nineteenth position. Chris fought all the race in a group of six riders ending in nineteenth place.

Superstock 1000 race : 1) Badovini (BMW) – 2) Berger (Honda) – 3) Magnoni (Honda) – 4) Antonelli (Honda) – 5) Bussolotti (Honda) .…10) Petrucci (Kawasaki) …… 23) Leeson (Kawasaki)

Danilo Petrucci :"My start was not so bad but during the first lap at the Carro curve Barrier bumped into my bike and I lost some positions. I pushed very hard recovering some positions since when my rear tire started to sliding a lot and for me it was really difficult to finish the race. Considering all the problems we found during the qualifying sessions, I’m satisfied for my tenth position but I’m sure we can reach better results in the next races".

Chris Leeson :” I’m pretty happy for my today’s race. After a good start I was trying to recover some positions but in one of the first curve there were a lot of contacts in my group of riders and I lost some position. After some laps I found a good feeling with my bike and I improved my lap time (1’41’700) also compared with my qualifying performances. Unfortunately near to the end of the race I felt some vibrations coming from my rear wheel. I couldn’t chase the riders in front of me and the only thing I could do was try and finish the race".
