September 27 2009 - Pedercini Team: SuperBike and SuperStock Imola races

Nice weather and dry track condition today in Imola for the twelfth round of the Superbike world championship. Due to difficult Friday and Saturday practices, both team Pedercini Superbike riders, struggled in today’s races with electronics and setting problems. In race one Scassa ended his race in sixteenth position, very close to the points zone, while David Salom obtained the eighteenth place. The Spanish rider was ruled out of second Imola race because of a technical issue and team mate Luca
Scassa reached the eighteenth position. Now the team will move to Magny Cours for the penultimate round of the season.

Superbike – Race one: 1) Haga (Ducati) – 2) Biaggi (Aprilia) – 3) Fabrizio (Ducati) - 4) Spies (Yamaha) – 5) Kiyonari (Honda) …… 16) Scassa (Kawasaki) …….18) Salom (Kawasaki) Superbike – Race two : 1) Fabrizio (Ducati) – 2) Haga (Ducati) – 3) Simoncelli (Aprilia) - 4) Biaggi (Aprilia) – 5) Spies (Yamaha) …… 18) Scassa (Kawasaki) - DNF Salom (Kawasaki)

Luca Scassa:”In race one I suffered for an unexpected inflammation at my left shoulder. I lost some important time when changing direction because of the pain in my shoulder. I’m not happy having finished in sixteenth position, but due to my physical condition I’m satisfied that I ended the race also because I did not want to disappoint my supporters and my team. Between race one and race two I had a very effective treatment from the Clinica Mobile doctors and they allowed me to compete in the second race. Unfortunately, we had some electronic problems during the eleventh lap which prevented me from getting a good position and some points for my championship standing”.

David Salom:”It has been a very difficult weekend for me. I could not get a good feeling with the bike during the practice and qualifying sessions and then I found some set up problems in today’s both races. In the first race starting from the tenth lap I found some troubles with my bike set-up. I was able to end the race but only in eighteenth position. In race two after only few laps I felt a lot of chatter coming from the rear wheel and shifting also on the front wheel. The problem only got worse as the race laps continued and I went back to the box to avoid a crash. I can only hope for better conditions in Magny Cours next race".

Javier Fores reached only the ninth place in today Superstock 1000 FIM Cup race in Imola while Ismael Ortega was forced to re-enter the box because of some gear problems at his Kawasaki ZX 10R. Due to their difficult yesterday qualifying session, Fores started today’s race from the fourth row in fourteenth position and team mate Ortega from the sixth place in twenty third place. After a good start Javier Fores was able to reach the eleventh place and he ended in ninth position. Ismael starting position did not allow him to fight in the front group and he was in twentieth place when he must stop his race.

Superstock 1000 race: 1) Simeon (Ducati) – 2) Corti (Suzuki) – 3) Magnoni (Yamaha) - 4) Beretta (Ducati) ……… 9) Fores (Kawasaki) – DNF Ortega (Kawasaki)

Ismael Ortega: “My start was not so bad and I was trying to recover some position when my bike’s gear started to give me a lot of problem and I had to turn back to the pit-box because of this technical problem. It was a very difficult weekend for both my team and me, starting from Friday afternoon when, due to a slippery track surface, the Superstock 1000 free session was cancelled. It was very difficult for us to find the better set up for our Kawasaki in only one free and one qualifying sessions also considering that this was completely a new circuit for me. I really hope to reach a better result in Magny Cours next race”.

Javier Fores
:“ It was not easy at all today. During the full weekend I was able to work on my bike only in two sessions and for my technicians it was impossible find the right set up for my Kawasaki on this technical circuit. It has been a very difficult weekend for me because I couldn’t get a good feeling for the bike during the practice and qualifying sessions. After a good start I pushed very hard trying to reach the
riders in front of me but I did not succeed to ride my bike as I would have had and I ended my race in ninth position only. Fortunately I’m still in third position in Superstock championship standing and I’ll try my best to keep this position also in Magny Cours race next week”.
